There may be less variety of fruit in winter but what is available – blood oranges, pears, kiwi fruit, lemons – is as good as it gets. Then there’s the chocolate factor. Chocolate and gelato is a popular combo all year round but particularly when the weather turns cold. One of our most popular flavours is Nutella Swirl, a combination that kind of happened by accident in our temporary store. We’d run out of some ingredients and had to find something to replace them. There were large jars of Nutella on the shelves mainly as decoration so we thought we’d use it to tide us over. A happy accident. We now have Nutella fountains in both our shops. So winter has a gelato flavour that’s as distinctive as summer, autumn and spring.
